How Much Staging is Right for Your Home?

January 2, 2015 by Chris Plank

Once you’ve decided to sell your home, you’ll need to transform it into a sellable product. Staging your home is one way to accomplish this. Often, people who are selling their home avoid staging because of the expense or because they believe their home doesn’t require it. However, affordable options are available, and most homes show better with staging.

Low Cost Staging Options

A one-time session with a home stager may be all you need to transform your home into a marketable product. A professional stager may advise you to paint your home’s interior a neutral color or install new carpet. He or she can also suggest simple landscaping changes to improve your home’s curb appeal.

Partial staging is another low cost option. With partial staging, outdated furniture is often replaced. In some cases, a bedroom is transformed into an office. Stagers frequently substitute large pieces of furniture with smaller ones. He or she may also use rugs and throw pillows to update a space.

Some home stagers offer a fluff service, which involves redesigning your home with your current possessions. For instance, you may own a few great furniture pieces that are mismatched and in need of proper placement.

When to Consider Full Staging

If you intend to vacate your home prior to listing it, consider full staging as the addition of furnishings will make your home show better. This option will let potential buyers see your home’s warmth and space.

Staging will help you keep your home tidy during the selling process. Furthermore, staging your home can help you sell it more quickly.
